Wingate reef & Umbria wreck

The Umbria built in Hamburg in 1912 and sunk in 1940 near Port Sudan is known as one of the best wrecks in the world to dive, so attracting divers to Sudan. 155m long, 18m wide, she rests almost intact with its precious cargo at the depth of 5-35m. On its final voyage in 1940, being in the hands of the Italians transporting over 350,000 bombs, cars, ammunition she was scuttled by the captain and sank in order not to be captured by British troops. It is possible to dive all around the wreck and to penetrate easily to the most of the sections. 



 

Shaab Ambar

A large coral barrier reef with secluded lagoon close to Swakin Archipelago islands offering wall-diving, interesting night-diving and providing a safe haven for the night when visiting the islands of Swakin to the South. 

Jumna

The most Northern reef of Swakin Archipelago with its lush walls, caves and endless coral formations hosting schools of hammerheads and mantas, pelagics and miniature nudibranches, rays and coral fishes of all possible colours.

Protector

A reef with a long plateau dotted by many large madreporic blocks which almost reach the surface. Stunning coral shapes wrapped in fish clouds attract sharks, hammerheads, tunas, jacks, barracudas.


Dahrat Abid

The southernmost islet of Suakin archipelago, Dahrat Abid with the remains of the wreck on top of the reef and shoals of reef fish among lush soft corals covering the drop off, pelagics passing buy, grey reef sharks, thresher sharks, white-tip sharks and silver-tip sharks.

Dahrat Qab & Habili Qab

An island Daharat Qab marked by an old wreck and Habili Qab close to the island with plateaus and chimneys fringed by beautiful pink and white soft corals and coral blocks and hosting schools of coral fish, tunas, barracudas, jacks and grey reef sharks offer a perfect dive.

Darraka

Darraka, a reef situated not far from the border of Eritrea, with its top being few meters below the surface and steep walls covered with forests of corals inhabited by uncountable anthias, surgeon fish and snappers. Dolphins and large pelagic fishes swim along the walls, marine life here is vivid and healthy.


Habili Isa

The reef with its top at around 10m below the surface, boasts large picturesque plateaus, walls, towers and valleys covered with pink,white and black soft corals, red whip corals. The richness of marine life here is amazing: shoals of surgeon fish and other coral fishes, giant trevallies, tuna, schools of barracuda - bursting moving colors are everywhere.

Miyum

The reef which is about 1 mile away from the Miyum island offers a very special dive along its long slope leading to a small plateau, both covered completely with soft corals of all possible colours and with multiple coral formations. In the break of the wall at 50m depth among black corals forest the reef sharks are hiding waiting for the prey. Uncountable shoals of trevallies and surgeons, jacks, barracudas, hammerheads and silky sharks encircle the reef.

Tamarshira island

Steep walls covered with lush coral forests attract multitudes of coral fish as well as sharks: hammerheads, grey reef sharks, silky sharks, tiger sharks, dolphins, pseudorcas, schooling pelagics in a wonderful setting of colorful corals.

Dibsel island

A small island belonging to the Southern group of Suakin archipelago offers a very special dive due to the amazing amount of marine life here: enormous shoals of unicorn fish, barracudas, groupers, trevallies, silky sharks, hammerheads, grey reef sharks, silver-tip sharks, oceanic white-tip sharks, mantas, devil rays, blue-spot rays and many more.
